1999 Porsche 911 - Carrera 2 Aero in Speed Yellow Exterior on Full Black Leather interior. The completely redesigned 911 debuts in the United States powered by a 3.4-liter flat-six double-overhead-cam motor that puts out 296 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque. Mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox, the car is propelled from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 secs and can reach a top speed of 172 mph. The new 911, dubbed the 996, kept many of the traditional design and driving characteristics from the long heritage of the classic 911 sports coupe, while adding new technology and safety features to complement the modern incarnation of the 911. The new design had to keep trademark 911 themes while becoming entirely different. The car's profile, wheel arches and C-pillars hark back to the original design while creating a fresh new appearance. In fact, says Porsche, The clay modeler who specializes in sculpting the C-pillar area has been with Porsche since the 1950s, shaping the C-pillar on the original 911. Even a design touch as basic as the air grille is a remnant of previous generations, since the new 911 no longer needs one: the engine is now water cooled. The improved suspension is derived from the 928, and it's designed to protect the car from oversteer while cornering at the limit. Huge brake rotors and GT1-inspired monobloc calipers make slowing down even easier than accelerating. The 1999 911 is wider than the previous car to compensate for the widened track. It's longer than the previous car, allowing for a more steeply raked windshield and better aerodynamics; the 911 now slips through the wind tunnel with a .30 coefficient of drag. The extra length also allows for a longer wheelbase that improves handling and traction while allowing engineers to design a more spacious interior. This 1999 model 996 comes from the later production run. Many changes were made to the vehicle in this later run including, European style clear tailenses and front turn signals, recessed undercarriage bolts, and it has the Litronics Xenon headlamps as an option that this car is equipped with. This 996 also comes equipped with the rare Factory Aerokit option (consists of: special nose paneling with integrated front spoiler and side skirts. A twin-wing rear spoiler (the upper wing is mechanically adjustable) replaces the electric standard spoiler. Components that have been aerodynamically optimized in the Porsche wind tunnel. They reduce the lifting force on the front and rear axles and emphasize the sporty flair of the vehicle.), Full leather seats, 3 Spoke leather wrapped steering wheel with Porsche Crest, 6 Disc Remote CD Changer, and 18" Sport Classic Wheel and tire upgrade. These options brought the total original MSRP to appx. $90,000. One owner, clean title California car with 74,448 miles. Asking $43,800 w/warranty. Features:
